A native of Tampa, Florida, Richard D. Martin is a proud product of Christian education, graduating Valedictorian from Pine Forge Academy in 2007, Cum Laude from Oakwood University with a BA in Theology in 2012, and from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University with a Master of Divinity in 2014. He served as associate pastor of the Emmanuel-Brinklow Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ashton, Maryland from February 2015 to March 2017. In May 2017, Pastor Martin was installed as senior pastor of the New Life Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hampton, Virginia, the place where Hope Grows and Love Shows.

God has given Pastor Martin a unique affinity for the preached Word and has afforded him the opportunity to proclaim the Great News of Jesus Christ nationally and internationally. His greatest joy in ministry is witnessing people come to that “Aha!” moment, when Jesus becomes all the world to them. One of his favorite Scripture passages is Ephesians 2:8, 9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

In May 2009, while touring the paradise island of Bermuda with the Oakwood University Aeolians, Pastor Martin’s eyes rested on a most precious rose. Her name was Kylah. Their friendship blossomed into something beautiful and they were married on February 8, 2015 in Southampton, Bermuda. He considers his “Bermudaful wife to be a resplendent gift of superlative value. In his words, “She is one of God’s gifts of grace to me.”

Pastor Martin enjoys thought-provoking conversations, well-written books, spirited sporting events, delectable cuisine, and devotional writing. He writes regularly on his blog www.richdmartin.com.

His life motto is: It is better to live in the will of God and be questioned by men, than to live in the will of men and be questioned by God.
